Weed cutting season begins

Weed cutting 2021 work began in earnest with President bab Santosh Desai taking the lead and demonstrating the method to the two laborers we hired. The job is extremely demanding and physically strenuous. With Valmiki Nayak, bab Santosh and Maruti Dhople helping and also ensuring the laborers don't relax too long. Equipment required constant repair while in use, Koyti required constant sharpening etc. In between there was some excitement with couple of snakes running circles around us. On day one we managed to complete only half a small garden. One day's weed cutting costs: 5lt petrol, 125ml oil (Rs 570), 1 cutting blade (350/) and labor cost 700/each = roughly Rs 2,300/day Not taking into account our own time and fuel costs in procuring spares etc. Entire Vidyanagar requires min. 12 to 15 days (expected to cost roughly Rs 30,000+).

Equipment required attention every couple of hours.
