Abandoned RTO barricade removed.

This abandoned RTO barricade near the entrance to Vidyanagar was causing hardships to the public. People would trip over it especially at night. On informing the Panch about it, he had the barricade removed immediately.

An amazing program on snakes was conducted at the Airway Public School by VRWA and Stephen Johnson.
Information was provided on why snakes are important to humans, how to identify snakes and what to do in the event of a snake bite.

Talk on Healthy Skin & Hair by Dr. Preeti Savardekar

Inner Wheel Club of Vasco da Gama along with Vidyanagar Resident's Welfare Association conducted a talk on maintaining healthy hair & skin. The talk was by Dr. Preeti Savardekar, a Dermatologist & Cosmetologist from Mumbai. The talk was followed by an interactive session during which many questions were answered and even medicines and lotions distributed. Many ladies from Vidyanagar attended and benefited from it.

Speed Breaker Installed

At the request of Vidyanagar residents, our Panch Shri Santosh Desai got speed breakers installed at the approach to the M.E.S College junction. Hopefully, this will help slow down traffic as they approach the junction from the internal road.

Potholed sharp turn repaired

When it comes to welfare of the residents, day or night is the same for our Panch Shri Santosh Desai. This sharp turn opposite MES College of arts and commerce Zuarinagar had become more dangerous due to the pot holes as well as uneven broken edge. Panch bab brought a truck and got 3 cubic meters of concrete deposited which was used to repair the damaged road. Nothing stops our Panch from serving the people of his ward.

Trench leveled

Indian Oil Tanking had dug a trench to locate source of fuel leak. They then filled the trench but did not level it properly causing great hardships to the residents and customers at shops. Despite several reminders there was no action from them so, our Panch Shri Santosh Desai himself arranged for several trucks of mud and a JCB to properly level the trench.

Inauguration of Vidyanagar chapter of the Centenary Chess Club.

The Vidyanagar chapter of the Centenary Chess Club was inaugurated on 15th Feb 2024. On the dais were ZP member Adv (Mrs) Anita Thorat, Shri Kishor Bandekar CA, V.P. Sancoale Dy Sarpanch Shri Girish Pillai, Shri M.R. Naik former President of Goa Chess Association, Shri Mukund Kamble, Secretary Centenary Chess Academy and Shri V.P. Sancoale Panch Shri Santosh Desai who has offered the use of his office for the chess activity.

Prabhat Pheri @ Vidyanagar to commemorate inauguration of Prabhu Shri Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

The Prabhat Pheri organized by the Vidyanagar Prabhat Pheri (morning walkers) group started from Basket Ball Court of M.E.S. College at 6.30 a.m. on 22nd January 2024 and covered entire Vidyanagar, of ward # 1, V.P. Sancoale, South Goa.

Registration drive for Abha card & PM Vishwakarma Yojna.

On Saturday the Panch conducted a registration drive for PM Vishwakarma Yojana and ABHA Card. By afternoon, nearly 100 residents availed of the registration camp and since more people were coming, the camp was extended by another 3 hours.

Foundation stone laid for Futsal ground.

The preparation for this took almost a year. Yesterday evening, thanks to our favorite Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho and Sancoale ZP Member Adv Anita Ajay Thorat, the foundation ceremony was conducted at Aman Colony for the Futsal ground. Our Minister bab Mauvin Godinho assured us that the Futsal ground will be ready in 2 months or less. Sancoale ZP Member Adv Anita Thorat assured us this development was just the beginning. ZP Member Anita Thorat assured the public that the Futsal ground will be funded by Zilla Panchayat. Sarpanch Smt. Rohini Devendra Toraskar, Dy. Sarpanch Shri Girish Pillai, Smt Aishwarya Korgaonkar, Dy. Sarpanch, V.P. Chicalim and Shri Monesh Meti, President of Vidyanagar Association also graced the occasion. Smt Suman Sharma presented the vote of thanks.

FREE EYE CHECKUP at Panch Shri Santosh Desai Office.

Under Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abhiyan, a FREE EYE CHECKUP camp was organized by Adv Anita Ajay Thorat and V.P. Sancoale Ward No 1 Panch Shri Santosh Desai in collaboration with Matoshree Seva Dham, Aroga Seva Trust. In attendance were Adv. Anita Thorat, Shri Pravin Chaudhary ji, Shri Monesh Meti, Panch Shri Santosh Desai and the eye specialists. Over 150 people came and took advantage of the eye checkup camp.

Sports Kits distributed by Panch Shri Santosh Desai

After completing the deweeding of Bharatnagar children's park, the post-monsoon play season was inaugurated by the Panch of Ward No 1, V.P. Sancoale, Shri Santosh Desai by distributing sports kits amongst the children. A cricket bat, ball, Volley ball and several badminton rackets and shuttle cocks were distributed.

Navratri 2023 organized by Shri Santosh Desai was a smash hit!

Smash hit - On the last day of Navratri, over 1,500 people participated including people from all religions. Many who had attended other Garba events in Vasco said that this was the best.

Public meeting held for Navratri 2023

A public meeting was conducted at the open air basket ball court for purpose of organizing Navratri 2023. Various suggestions were received and it was also decided that participants should contribute Rs 500 each so that the event can be properly arranged.
