As homes began to be constructed, problems surfaced due to lack of municipal water pipe lines, electrical transformers, internal tarred roads, street lighting and so forth.
Rather than individual residents running from pillar to post, the Vidyanagar residents welfare association was formed and registered in 2005. Mr. Cherian Kuruvilla was it's
first president.
The office bearers of the association visisted various government departments, the Panchayat office and the local MLA's office to install a large diameter water pipeline and
also receive satbilized electrical power. In due course, thanks to the efforts of the Vidyanagar residents welfare association, all the internal roads were tarred and street
lighting was setup. The Association, with the help of the MLA and the Sancoale Panchayat, subscribed to the daily garbage collection.
Often times, Vidya Nagar Resident's Welfare Association intervened and settled disputes between residents. Thanks to the efforts of association, the Panchayat and our MLA,
this place is now a safe, clean and well lighted with all the amenities of a mini township.
An annual fee of just Rs 300 per member covers minor expenses of the association. The residents frequently sponsor various social programs including the Vidyanagar annual day.
The association provides information to it's members via this website - which was designed, developed and hosted by Vidyanagar resident Valmiki Nayak. The association also has a
two-way communication facility provided via a Whatsapp group. If you area permanent resident of Vidyanagar, we urge you to join the Vidyanagar residents welfare association and
it's Whatsappgroup. All you have to do is to contact any of the Executive committee members. Their names and phone numbers are displayed below.
