Contribution handed over to the Chief Minister

All contributions received along with a covering letter were handed over to the Chief Minister. Special thanks to our MLA Madam Alina Saldanha for getting us the appointment and accompanying us to the CM's office. Drawing competition results

Drawing competition held

The drawing competition was held and it was a great success with over 60 students participating. Students drew at home and posted their drawings into the official WhatsApp Group of the association. The judges were Ms Priya Alphonso of Bharat Nagar Colony and Mrs. Arti Adda of Carvalho Estate. Some drawings were so good that more than one student won first prize or third prize and as a result, there were a total of 12 winners. The drawing submissions can be viewed here.

Tea & snacks to the traffic cops

Generous Vidyanagar residents have been providing the police manning the entrace to Vidyanagar during the pandemic, with water, tea and snacks twice a day.

Drawing competition proposed

It was decided to organize a drawing competition on Sunday 19th April, 2020. Topics will be announced on the same day. There will be three categories of participants and each category will have 3 cash prizes.

CM Covid relief fund

On the suggestion of a resident Mr. M. R. Naik, a collection drive is being organized for the Chief Minister's COVID-19 relief fund. Payment by cheque with minimum amount set to Rs 1,500 and a collection target of Rs 1 Lakh. Click here for list of donors.

Roads disinfected

M.E.S junction on highway to M.E.S college being disinfected. Sodium Hypochlorite solution was used as the disinfectant. Initiative by Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, newly elected ZP Anita Thorat, Girish Pillai and M.P.T.

Free face masks distributed

Shantaram Desai distributing free face masks to those who did not have it while volunteering to ensure ppl maintain social dispance at Naik General Stores, Vidyanagar.

SOPs

Cops visited Naik General Store and requested proper marking of squares and volunteers to enforce social distancing. So, our Association President immediately got down to the task of creating squares. And a group of Volunteers was formed comprising of Monish Metti, Santosh Desai, Sagar Thorasker, Raghunath Azrekar, Praveen Shringare, Yadvesh Gonge, Bhalchandra Desai, Uday Anklekar, Vinay Manolkar, Sudesh Goavekar and Chandrakant Gungikar.

Shops requested to stay open during Covid

COVID-19: Association President, Shree Santosh Desai accompanied by Valmiki Nayak and Monish Metti, went around Vidyanagar requesting grocery shops to stay open and relive the stress amongst Vidyanagar residents. They also visited stockists to find out the stock situation at the supplier end.

Garbage collection restarts

Garbage collection has now stabilized with garbage being collected from all colonies.

Garbage collection halts

Crises in garbage collectors office: Due to lack of availability of land for garbage segregation, the garbage collector is unable to collect garbage in bulk. Currently, segregation is being done in the vehicle itself. Space not being adequate he is forced to collect garbage at the rate of one colony per day. Member cooperation is required until situation returns to normal.

Problems in accounting

It was found that Collection register and actual receipts did not match and as a result, accounts from 2014 onwards were declared "bad" and all member receipt data was withdrawn from the association website.

Son of Vidyanagar joins Goa State Cricket Team

The Committee congratulated Shantaram Desai the Treasurer on ocassion of his son Shivank being selected for Goa State Cricket u/16 team.
